SALEM, Mass. – Salem State began the 2023 season with a 7-2 loss to Eastern Nazarene at The Central Campus Tennis Courts on Saturday. Erin Curristin won the only singles point for the Vikings (0-1), defeating Madison Rearick 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.

Junior Abbie Laliberte / freshman Ryann Tripp combined to win their first doubles match with an 8-5 victory over Jenna Schlosser/ Rearick at No. 3 doubles.

The Lions (1-0) swept thru the first five singles matches as Sofia Rojas and Sara Poletto each recorded victories by identical 6-0, 6-2 scores at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Rojas defeated Cassie Liu while Poletto got past Samantha Tenney. Rojas / Poletto also paired at No. 1 doubles, prevailing 8-2 over Liu / Kenzie McLaren.
