Vikings Trounce Huskies 9-0

GORHAM, Maine  – Salem State won 9-0 over Southern Maine in a Little East match on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings move to 4-5 on the year and in the LEC. The Huskies lost their 10th match in a row and now stand at 1-10 and 0-9 in conference.

Salem State dominated doubles play with Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) / Meredith Macdonald (Lynn, Mass.) and Caroline Robitalle (South Hadley, Mass.) / Hannah Dahrouge (South Hadley, Mass.) winning handily, 8-1 and 8-4 at first and second doubles. Southern Maine defaulted at third doubles.

The Vikings swept through singles play with Startseva leading the way with a 8-0, 6-1 win at first singles. Dahrouge picked up her first victory at second singles, 4-6, 6-1, 10-7. Robitalle cruised through third singles 6-1, 6-2 while Macdonald picked up a point at fourth singles with a pair of 6-1 wins. 

Alexandria Floyd (Burlington, Mass.) won 6-3, 6-0 at fifth singles with the Huskies defaulting at sixth singles.
