Rhode Island College Storms Past Salem State 8-1

SALEM, Mass. – Rhode Island College improved to 11-1 on the year and remained unbeaten in Little East  play (7-0) as the Anchorwomen defeated Salem State 8-1 on Saturday at The Central Campus Tennis Courts. The Vikings are now 3-5 and 2-5 in the LEC.

Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) / Meredith Macdonald (Lynn, Mass.) won the only point for the Vikings, 8-6 over  Jenna Lisi (Cranston, R.I.) / Laurel Ten Eyck (Warwick, R.I.) at first doubles. Rhode Island took second and third doubles easily winning by scores of 8-2 and 8-0 respectively.

Startseva suffered her first conference loss at first singles, 6-0, 6-4 to Lisi. Michaela Burr (Westerly, R.I.) won 6-0, 6-0 at second singles against Hannah Dahrouge (South Hadley, Mass.). 

Macdonald won the only singles set for the Vikings with a 6-2 second set win against Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, Mass.) at third singles. Vittori won the point 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.
