Vikings Sail Past Corsairs

SALEM, Mass. – Salem State picked up their second win of the season with a 5-3 Little East Conference win over UMass Dartmouth at The Central Campus Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings are now 2-4 overall on the season. The Corsairs snap their two-game winning streak and slip to 7-4 and 3-3 in the LEC.

Salem State took 3-of-5 singles matches with the No.1 flight remaining unfinished due to darkness between Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) and Lauren Morgart (Weston, Mass.).

Caroline Robitalle (South Hadley, Mass.) notched a 6-4, 6-0 win at third singles over Rachel Aftandilian (Watertown, Mass.), while Meredith Macdonald (Lynn, Mass.) and Alexandria Floyd (Burlington, Mass.) earned points with win at fourth and fifth singles respectively in straight sets. 

Startseva / Meredith Macdonald (Lynn, Mass.) earned a win at first doubles 8-6 against Morgart / Jaime Fastino (Rehoboth, Mass.). The Vikings' tandem of Caroline Robitalle (South Hadley, Mass.) / Hannah Dahrouge (South Hadley, Mass.) won second doubles by default.
