Fighting Scots Blank Vikings 9-0
SALEM, Mass. – Salem State and Gordon College squared off in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon at The Central Campus Tennis Courts. Th Fighting Scots walked away with a 9-0 victory over the Vikings to improve to 12-6 on the year. The Vikings are now 9-7 after their first spring match of the season.
Gordon dominated doubles play, yielding just two points. Gabrielle Brucker (Eleva, Wis. ) / Anne Carsey (Flagstaff, Ariz.) defeated Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) / Caroline Robitaille (South Hadley, Mass.), 8-1 at first doubles while Jordyn Maddex (Andover, Kan.) / Caitlin Kwok (Dana Point, Calif.) shut out / Meredith Macdonald (Lynn, Mass.) / Kristin Klimowicz (Ipswich, Mass.) 8-0 at second doubles. Anna Mullane (North Chelmsford, Mass.) / Madison West (Southampton, N.Y.) completed the sweep with an 8-1 win at third doubles.
Anne Carsey defeated Anastasia Startseva 6-2, 6-4 at first singles and Gabrielle Brucker earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles over Allaire as the Fightings Scots did not lose a set in six singles matches.
