Vikings Conclude Regular Season With 7-2 Victory Over Lancers

SALEM, MASS. – Salem State concluded their regular season with a 7-2 triumph over Worcester State on Tuesday afternoon at The Central Campus Tennis Courts. The Vikings wrapped up Little East play with a 7-2 conference record and will begin play in the Little East Conference Post-Season Tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Vikings will host sixth seed Southern Maine in a quarterfinal round match tomorrow afternoon at home beginning at 3:00 PM.

Salem State (8-5) swept all three doubles matches which propelled them to a five-point victory over the Lancers.

Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) / Caroline Robitaille (South Hadley, Mass.) defeated Dominique Alves (Ludlow, Mass. ) / Monika Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) 8-5 at first doubles while Madeline Allaire (Columbus, Ohio) / Meredith Macdonald (Lynn, Mass.) beat Emma Collings (Marion, Mass.) / Charlotte Mullane (Sterling, Mass.) 9-8(7-3) at second doubles.  Kristin Klimowicz (Ipswich, Mass) / Hannah Dahrouge (South Hadley, Mass.) completed the sweep with an 8-5 win at third doubles.

Startseva and Allaire each won in straight sets at first and second singles as the two completed the regular season with a combined 23-2 singles record.

Mullane and Emily Costa (Dudley, Mass.) won at third and fifth singles for Worcester State while Macdonald and Dahrouge picked up the final two points for the Vikings at fourth and sixth singles.

The Lancers conclude their season at 6-8 with a 4-5 conference mark.
