Vikings Post 7-2 Win Over UMass Boston

SALEM, MASS. – Salem State easily dispatched UMass Boston 7-2 on Tuesday afternoon in a Little East Conference matchup at The Central Campus Tennis Courts. The Vikings dominated the Beacons, winning all three doubles matches to improve to 6-4 on the year and 5-2 in conference. UMass Boston remains winless at 0-8 and 0-7 in conference.

Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) / Maddie Allaire (Columbus, Ohio) won 8-0 over Katie Gauthier (West Boylston, Mass.) Valeria Tueme (Bonney Lake, Wash.) at first doubles. Meredith MacDonald (Lynn, Mass.) / Kristin Klimowicz (Ipswich, Mass.) followed with an 8-6 victory at second doubles over Meaghan Moriarty (Norton, Mass.)  / Chloe Gates (Plymouth, Mass.) while Caroline Robitaille (South Hadley, Mass.) / Hannah Dahrouge (South Hadley, Mass.) earned an 8-4 win at third doubles.

The Vikings took four of the six singles matches with Startseva once again leading the charge at first singles. The junior beat Gauthier, 6-1, 6-2. Allaire won 6-0, 6-1 over Tueme at second singles while MacDonald and Dahrouge picked up wins at fourth and sixth singles.

Moriarty won in straight sets at third singles for UMass Boston while Baila Mir (Somerset, Mass.) picked up the other point for the Beacons with a 6-3, 6-4 win at fifth singles.
