Gulls Best Vikings 7-2
SALEM, Mass. – Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) and Madeline Allaire (Columbus, Ohio) picked up wins at first and second singles in Salem State's 7-2 defeat to Endicott on Thursday afternoon at The Central Campus Tennis Courts. The Gulls remain unbeaten on the year at 9-0 while the Vikings slip to 4-3.
Startseva won her fifth straight match at the No. 1 position, beating Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.) 7-6, 3-6, 11-9. Allaire has also won five straight from the second singles position after shutting out Gillian Freter (Scituate, Mass.), 6-0, 6-0. However, the Gulls swept the rest of singles play in earning a five-point victory. Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) won in straight sets at third singles for the Gulls, 6-0, 6-0 over Jenna Jarman (Auburn, N.Y.).
Endicott swept doubles play with Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) / Hoover handing Startseva / Allaire their first loss at first doubles on the season with an 8-3 decision.
