Salem State Wins Third Straight

SALEM, Mass. – Salem State shut out Castleton 9-0 in a Little East tennis match on Wednesday afternoon at the Central Campus Tennis Courts. The Vikings raise their record to 4-2, 3-1 while the Spartans go to 2-5, 0-4.

Salem State lost only two sets in doubles as Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) / Madeline Allaire (Columbus, Ohio) and Kristin Klimowicz (Ipswich, Mass.) / Meredith Macdonald (Lynn, Mass.) won 8-1 at first and second doubles, defeating Megan Nadler (Rutland, Vt.) / Kirsten Kruk (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Alexis Curley (Greenwich, N.Y.) /  Rebecca Corsette (Walden, N.Y.). Hannah Dahrouge (South Hadley, Mass.) / Caroline Robitalle (South Hadley, Mass.) earned an 8-0 decision at third doubles.

Startseva and Allaire each improved to 5-1 on the season with straight set wins at first and second singles. Startseva defeated Nadler 6-2, 6-3 at the top spot while Allaire beat Kruk, 6-0, 6-1. Jenna Jarman (Auburn, N.Y.) picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory at third singles, while Robitalle, Macdonald and Klimowicz all won in straight sets at fourth through sixth singles.
