PAWTUCKET, R.I. ? Salem State University's Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) has been named the 2018 Little East Conference (LEC) Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, while teammate Maddie Allaire (Columbus, Ohio) earned first team, all-confernece singles and doubles.

SALEM, MASS. – No. 3 seed Salem State was defeated by No. 2 seed Plymouth State by a score of 5-4 in the semifinals of the Little East Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament on Friday afternoon at the RIC Tennis Center in Providence, R.I. The Panthers took four-of-six singles matches to earn a trip to the championship match tomorrow against either top seed Rhode Island College or No. 4 seed UMass Dartmouth.

SALEM, MASS. – No. 3 seed Salem State defeated No. 6 seed Southern Maine 5-0 on Wednesday afternoon at The Central Campus Tennis Courts to advance to the second round of the Little East Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament. The Vikings will now face No. 2 seed Plymouth State in a semifinal match on Friday at 11:00 AM at host Rhode Island College.

SALEM, MASS. – Salem State concluded their regular season with a 7-2 triumph over Worcester State on Tuesday afternoon at The Central Campus Tennis Courts. The Vikings wrapped up Little East play with a 7-2 conference record and will begin play in the Little East Conference Post-Season Tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Vikings will host sixth seed Southern Maine in a quarterfinal round match tomorrow afternoon at home beginning at 3:00 PM.

SALEM, Mass. – Haley Reed’s (Goffstown, N.H.) vital seven service ace performance helped the Salem State Vikings shut out the Emmanuel Saints 3-0 on Tuesday evening at Twohig Gymnasium. The Vikings won all three sets, 25-16, 25-18, 25-12. Salem rises to 13-8 on the year while the Saints fall to 7-13 on the season.

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) and Madeline Allaire (Columbus, Ohio) each picked up wins in singles and doubles as Salem State earned a 6-3 decision over Bridgewater State in a Little East Conference (LEC) match on Wednesday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts. The Vikings improve to 7-4 on the season and 6-2 in the Little East, while the host Bears fall to 7-7 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

SALEM, MASS. – Salem State easily dispatched UMass Boston 7-2 on Tuesday afternoon in a Little East Conference matchup at The Central Campus Tennis Courts. The Vikings dominated the Beacons, winning all three doubles matches to improve to 6-4 on the year and 5-2 in conference. UMass Boston remains winless at 0-8 and 0-7 in conference.

SALEM, MASS. – Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) remained unbeaten in the Little East Conference at No. 1 singles, improving to 6-0 on the season and 8-1 overall, but first place Rhode Island College came out on top 7-2 over the Vikings on Saturday afternoon at the RIC Tennis Center. The Anchorwomen are now 11-0 and 6-0 in conference while the Vikings slip to 5-4 and 4-2 in the LEC.
