SALEM, Mass. – Salem State women's soccer found themselves back in the win column tonight after four Vikings found the back of the net en route to their 4-1 victory over Thomas College tonight,, boosting their record to 3-7-2 overall.
How it Happened:
- Jenna Mitza (Tygnsboro, Mass.) broke the game open in the seventh minute after lacing the ball into the right panel to take the early 1-0 tilt.
- Anna Latta (Southbury, Conn.) extended the Vikings' lead just before the break by following up on her own shot to give Salem the 2-0 advantage at the half.
- In the 70th minute, Anna Frost (Ada, Mich.) headed in a corner from Sydney Durkin (Dracut, Mass.), putting the Vikings ahead 3-0. However, just three minutes later, a goal from the Terriers would break the shutout.
- With three minutes left in the game, McKenna Gilligan (Salem, Mass.) restored the Vikings' three-goal lead with a direct kick from about 20 yards out, sealing the 4-1 victory for Salem.
