Vikings Sink Buccaneers, 3-0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Salem State women's soccer traveled to Buzzards Bay this afternoon where they secured their first Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) after shutting out the Buccaneers from Massachusetts Maritime Academy 3-0, boosting their record to 2-6-2 overall and 1-1-1 in MASCAC action.  

How it Happened: 

  • After a relatively quiet start to the game, Anna Frost (Ada, Mich.) stepped up for a direct kick from about 20 yards out and sent the ball soaring into the top left corner, putting Salem ahead 1-0 in the 35th minute. 
  • Fourteen minutes into the second half, Krysta Zamejtis (Danvers, Mass.) extended the Vikings' lead by scoring off a corner from Sydney Durkin (Dracut, Mass.) to give Salem the two-goal advantage.  
  • Savannah Scrodin (Bristol, Vt.) found Brenna Paquette (Hudson, N.H.) for the game's third and final goal to solidify the Vikings' 3-0 shutout.  
 
 

Inside the Numbers:

  • Anna Frost notched her first collegiate goal this afternoon.  
  • With her goal in the 69th minute, Brenna Paquette notched her fourth goal of the season which is a team best.
  • The Vikings' 3-0 shutout is their largest margin of victory on the season.
