SALEM, Mass. – Kara Keiper (Peterborough, N.H.) and Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) struck for a goal apiece as Colby Sawyer notched a 2-0 victory over Salem State at Alumni Field on Thursday evening. The Chargers are now 5-8-2 on the year while the Vikings go to 2-10.
Keiper put home a loose ball from just outside the goal area in the 15th minute for a 1-0 Colby Sawyer lead. The Chargers held the one-goal margin into halftime, outshooting Salem State 13-5 in the first half.
Later in the second, O'Connell laced a shot from seven yards out to beat keeper Lily Pfefferle (St. Paul, Minn.) for a 2-0 Chargers' advantage in the 47th minute.
Alexis Lebreton (Bangor, Maine) made seven saves in the win. Pfefferle stopped 14 shots for Salem State, which was outshot 22-10 for the game.
