Brown's Second Half Goal Helps Salem State Slip Past Endicott 2-1

BEVERLY, Mass. -- Katie Brown's(Milford, Mass.) fifth goal of the year came at the 53:24 mark and proved to be the difference as Salem State edged Endicott 2-1 on Tuesday evening at Hempstead Stadium. The Vikings are now 4-5-2 while the Gulls slip to 7-5.

Rebecca Sabino (Peabody, Mass.) made five second half saves; six total to notch her third win. Outshooting the Vikings 18-8 for the game, Endicott only held a slim 7-6 advantage in shots in the first half. Madeleine Cheney (Bow, N.H.) struck first for the Gulls, scoring an unassisted goal 28 minutes into the contest. However, Devyn Malatesta (Wilmington, Mass.) answered just  over 10 minutes later off a feed from Jill Tramondozzi (Malden, Mass.) as the teams entered halftime tied 1-1.

The Gulls fired off 11 shots after halftime and held a 4-0 advantage in corners, but  it Salem State, who covnverted as Malatesta set up Brown for the eventual game-winner despite the Vikings only getting two shots on net in the final 45 minutes. 

Jacqueline Ruggiero (Huntington Beach, Calif.) made two saves for Endicott in the loss.
