Gordon, Salem State Play to 0-0 Tie

SALEM, Mass. - Salem State and Gordon played to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday evening at Alumni Field. Lily Pfefferle (St. Paul, Minn.) was perfect in net finishing with 13 saves while her counterpart Giselle Maso (Frisco, Texas) finished with three saves. 

Pfefferle was excellent in the second half, making several key saves to prevent the Fighting Scots from scoring. The Vikings' record goes to 2-5-2 on the season with Gordon standing at 7-2-2 on the year. In the first half, the Fighting Scots paired a couple of counter-attacks into scoring chances, but were called offsides both times.

Devyn Malatesta (Wilmington, Mass.) had Salem State's only good scoring chance in the first half, but her shot was deflected by a defender. The first half was tight with the score even at 0-0. Gordon College took five shots while the Vikings attempted three.

Gordon College was the stronger the team in the second half, setting up 16 shots to Salem State's two. The Vikings were close to scoring when Katie Brown (Milford, Mass.) took a shot, but the ball went bar down and out in the 86th minute.

In the first half of overtime, Potter took a shot off a corner and Pfefferle made a great save to keep the game level. In the second half of overtime, Emily Boyle's (Manchester, NH) free-kick hit the crossbar. Gordon College dominated in possession while taking 21 shots and on the other side the Vikings attempted eight.
