McFall Scores Twice in Salem State's 3-0 Quarterfinal Win

Framingham, Mass.— Salem State junior Casey McFall (Wilmington, Mass.) scored a goal in each half to lead the #5 seed Vikings to a 3-0 win over # 4 seed Framingham State in the MASCAC Women's Soccer Quarterfinal on Tuesday evening at Maple Street Field. Salem State now advances to the MASCAC semifinal round and will play at #1 Worcester State on Friday evening.

The Vikings (6-10-1) got on the board in the 18th minute when Emily Boyle (Manchester, NH) sent in a cross the Rams keeper Jen Stevens (Hopkinton, Mass.) attempted to clear but was gathered by McFall and deposited it into the open frame. Early in the second frame Salem State added an insurance goal when McFall and Boyle teamed up again scoring on a long cross right to left.

The Vikings added another tally in the 78th minute when Teagan Gilliss (Danvers, Mass.) gathered a 50/50 ball dribbled around a defender and sent a strike in the upper left corner of the net. The Rams (5-12-1) best chance to score came midway through the first half when Kayleigh Pallotta (Hanover, Mass.) sent in a long strike that went just over the crossbar.

Amanda Backe (Danvers, Mass.) saved two attempts for the Vikings. while Stevens turned away four shots in net for the Rams.

The Vikings outshot the Rams 14-to-9 and were awarded two corners the Rams one.
