Beacons Stop Vikings 5-0

 

Boston - UMass Boston scored four second half goals as the Beacons blanked Salem State 5-0 on Thursday evening. The Beacons improve to 10-5-1 while the Vikings go to 3-10. 

After a scoreless first 50 minutes, the Beacons jumped all over the Vikings early in the second half to reach the 10-win mark for the first time since 2014. Lindsay Bouscaren (Cambridge, Mass.) enjoyed the best statistical game of her career. The sophomore forward recorded each of the Beacons first two goals and added an assist in the victory.

Freshmen Grace McGettrick (Marshfield, Mass.), Morgan Palma (Halifax, Mass.) and Grace Oliver (Rockland, Mass.) all added goals in a 3:41 span.  Fellow freshman Allie Crawford (Kingston, Mass.) and senior Jaclyn O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) paced the Beacons with a pair of assists in the win.

In net, freshman Caroline Richards (Duxbury, Mass.) recorded a career-best 11 saves for her second shutout in three career starts. For Salem State, Rebecca Sabino made a season-high 12 saves on 17 shots.
