Nor'easters Get Past Salem State 13-7
BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England triumphed over Salem State, 13-7 at Blue Bolt Field on Wednesday afternoon. Morgan White scored five goals and added two assists and Emma Collingwood added three goals to lead the Nor'easters, who are now 1-2. Jordan Turcotte, Megan Parthum and Laura Young scored a pair of goals for the Vikings as they slip to 1-2.
How it Happened
- The two teams traded goals in the first period, which saw the quarter expire with the two teams deadlocked at 3-3. Trailing 2-0, Turcotte, Parthum and Olivia Tednes scored three unanswered goals for the Vikings before Chloe Ryan tied it for the University of New England with 1:20 remaining in the quarter.
- Collingwood and Turcotte exchanged scores in the second quarter to send the game into halftime tied 4-4.
- Young put Salem State ahead to open the third quarter, but four straight goals by the Nor'easters gave them an 8-5 advantage going into the fourth.
- Laura Young cut the deficit to 8-6 at 11:24 of the fourth, but the University of New England pulled away with four-goal spurt, including two by White to take a commanding 12-6 lead with 2:45 left.
- Jenna Trafford (1-2) made four saves in the win.
- Nora Bradley (2-1) stopped 10 shots.
- The Nor'easters won 19-of-24 draw controls.
