Bears Hand Vikings 14-4 Loss

SALEM, Mass. – Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) and Victoria McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.) combined for nine goals and two assists as the Bridgewater State Bears defeated the Salem State Vikings in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's lacrosse game on Wednesday evening at Alumni Field.  The Bears improve to 11-4 and 5-1 in the MASCAC while the Vikings slip to 3-13 and 2-4 in conference.

Victoria McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.) – 5 goals, Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) - 4 goals, Katherine Tracy (Marion, Mass.) – 3 goals, Mackenzie Manning (Hingham, Mass.) 1-goal, Madison Seeger (Clinton, Conn.) – 1 goal, all netted scores for Bridgewater State.  

Amanda Bradley (Peabody, Mass.) – 2 goals, Tara McLaughlin (Woburn, Mass.) – 1 goal and Rose Sullivan (Charlestown, Mass.) – 1 goal scored for Salem State. 

Bridgewater State scored the first seven goals of the game before McLaughlin answered for Salem State with 3:57 remaining in the first half. Ettridge and McDonough each netted a hat-trick during the scoring spree while Tracy converted a free position attempt. The Bears connected on 8-of-19 (.421%) shots on goal in the first half as they entered halftime leading 8-1 after Manning added a goal with just over a minute left.

Bradley opened the scoring with a goal for the Vikings to begin the second, but Bridgewater State rattled off five unanswered scores to move ahead 13-2. McDonough scored two of the goals to bring her game-leading total to five. Sullivan scored to break the sting to make the score 13-3 with 14:42 left.

Bradley and Tracey exchanged goals in the final two minutes, making the final 14-4.

Hayley Barner (Westwood, Mass.) made nine saves in the victory while Gianna DeNisco (Peabody, Mass.) stopped ll shots for the Vikings.

Bridgewater State held a 32-16 advantage in shots while the Vikings held a slight 11-10 edge in draw controls.
