Salem State's Late Run Gives Vikings 10-9 Win

Fitchburg, Mass. – Salem State scored three goals in the final 6:30 to overcome a 9-7 deficit and win 10-9 over Fitchburg State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this evening at Elliot Field. Taylor Lund ((Woburn, Mass.) started the run and Amanda Bradley (Peabody, Mass.) and sophomore Shayla Inglis (Lowell, Mass.), who scored the game-winner with 1:09 remaining, completed the comeback. Gianna DeNisco (Peabody, Mass.) made 15 saves to secure the win. 

Salem State ups its record to 3-9 and 2-2 in the MASCAC while Fitchburg State slides to 2-11 and 1-3 in conference.

The Vikings grabbed a 2-0 advantage on a pair by Lund before the Falcons took the lead (3-2) on scores from freshman Julia Miele (South Hadley, Mass.) and two from senior Sarah Napolitano (Peabody, Mass.).

Salem potted the last two goals of the first frame to maintain a 4-3 lead at intermission.

Fitchburg opened the second half with four unanswered goals. The Green and Gold got scores from four different players. Junior Tracy Long (Georgetown, Mass.) notched her 32^nd of the season, while Napolitano had two helpers and her 18^th tally on the year. Junior Rebecca Fisher (Dracut, Mass.) rounded out the scoring streak.

The teams traded 8-meter goals as the Falcons held a 9-7 advantage with 12:14 to play.

Lund finished with six points on five scores and one helper to go along with one ground ball for the Vikings. Marguerite Belcher (Quincy, Mass.) stopped nine shots for Fitchburg State in the setback.

Amanda Bradley (Peabody, Mass.) had two scores for the Vikings while Casie Curtin (Wrentham, Mass.) led both teams with eight groundballs. Napolitano paced the Falcons, totaling seven points on three goals and four assists as well as two ground balls, while Miele and Long each has two goals.
