Lasell Comes Back to Defeat Salem State

NEWTON, MASS. -- Vanessa Pino (Methuen, Mass.) scored six goals as Lasell outscored Salem State 9-1 in the second half to come-from-behind to defeat the Vikings 11-7 at Grellier Field on Thursday afternoon. Taylor Lund (Woburn, Mass.) and Tara McLaughlin (Woburn, Mass.) scored two goals apiece in the first half as Salem state (1-4) raced out to a 6-2 halftime lead. However, the Lasers outshot Salem State 26-1 in the second half to win going away.

Lund scored the game's first goal and after back-to-back goals by McLaughlin, the Vikings led 3-0. Jordan McComb (Cumberland, R.I.) answered for Lasell (6-1), but Paige Giuliano (Braintree, Mass.) and Lund scored less than a minute apart to put the Vikings up 5-1. Pino netted her first of the game, but Amanda Bradley (Peabody, Mass.) netted a goal in the final minute of the first half to increase the lead to four.

A Lasell goal cut the lead in half before Bradley scored her second of the game in the 23rd minute. However, Lasell would end the game on an 8-0 run, highlighted by five scores from Pino to win 11-7.

Gianna DeNisco (Peabody, Mass.) took the loss, making 17 saves while Morgan Choquet (Woonsocket, R.I.) earned the win making four stops.
