Bio

Spurling was named the head coach at Salem state in 2017 and has over 23 years of experience coaching youth girl's hockey, including nine seasons with the Assabet Valley Girl's club program. He won seven state championships, and the 2006 U14 national title. Spurling was also an assistant coach for the Assabet Valley Girl's U16 Red Major, which won back-to-back national championships in 2007 and 2008.
 
Recently, Spurling has served as the head coach at The Rivers School in Weston for the past four seasons, leading the school to four straight NEPSAC playoff appearances and a Division II championship in 2015.

Spruling, who resides in Byfield, Mass. with his wife and three children, earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Salem State. He is a member of the American Hockey Coaches Association.
