HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College skated to an 8-0 victory over Salem State on Sunday night night at the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The Bantams are now 3-0-1 while the Vikings go to 1-7.
Elizabeth Winslow gave Trinity a 1-0 lead in the first, before the Bantams scored seven unanswered goals over the next two periods to win 8-0. Jenny Guider, Angelica Mushenko and Stephanie Nevers each scored two goals apiece, including a shorthanded goal by Mushenko at 16:04 of the second that made the score 4-0. Leading 6-0, Nevers added back-to-back scores, including a power play goal in the third that made the final 8-0.
Stephanie Garvis made eight saves in the while Hannah Aveni made 55 stops, second most my a Vikings' netminder behind Jenn Toussaints's 56 against SUNY-Canton in 2015. Trinity put up 63 shots on net while going 2-for-8 (.250) on the power play. The Vikings were 0-5 on the power play.
