Rams Race Past Vikings 77-54

SALEM, Mass - Abbey Battaini's 20-point performance off the bench sparked the Framingham State Rams to a 77-54 win over the Salem State Vikings at Twohig Gymnasium on Saturday.

Battaini shot 53.8% (FG 7-13, 3PT 6-10) from the field as Framingham State improves to 11-4 on the year and 3-0 in Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), while the Vikings slide to 2-13 on the season and 0-3 in the MASCAC.

In the first quarter, Framingham State opened up the game just 1-for-8 from the field. Later in the quarter, both teams began to find their groove from three-point range as the Rams shot 62.5% (5-8) and the Vikings 100% (2-2) from behind the arc. Framingham State took a 17-16 at the end of the first quarter.

The Rams built a 39-32 halftime lead after a scorching 60% (FG 9-15) from deep in the second quarter.

Framingham State continued to hit from outside, finishing 49.2% from the floor (30-61) as they built a 23-point second half lead.

Mary Kate O'Day poured in 17 points (FG 7-14) for Framingham State.

For the Vikings, Kia Fernandes (Wareham, Mass.) scored 13 points (FG 5-9) and grabbed 11 rebounds. Tyra Scott (Methuen, Mass.) put up 16 points (8-17).

The Vikings committed 23 turnovers leading to 21 points by the Rams. 

Salem State shot 41.5% (22-53) for the game.
