Salem State Holds Off Lesley 2-0

SALEM, Mass. - Nicholas Ramos' (Middleboro, Mass.) and Grace Dos Santos (Brockton, Mass.) each scored for Salem State as the Vikings held off Lesley 2-0 on "Senior Night" at Alumni Field. Salem State improves to 10-4-1 on the season and Lesley drops to 7-8 on the year.

Seniors Christopher Jimenez (Nashua, N.H.), Grace Dos Santos (Brockton, Mass.), Ryan Smith (Shelton, Conn.), and Josh Osawe (Lynn, Mass.) were all recognized for their strong careers at Salem State before the game, which included, the 2017 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) championship.

In the 23rd minute, Dylan Senra (Dartmouth, Mass.) went into the box and passed it in the middle to Ramos. Ramos shot the ball to the bottom right corner to put the Vikings up 1-0.

Salem State went into the half holding onto their 1-0 lead. The Lynx attempted five shots in the half with two on target. The Vikings took five shots and they were all on target. Lesley also took a corner.

There was a scoring drought until the Vikings extended the lead to 2-0 in the 82nd minute. On a throw-in, Senra passed it to Lucas Amaral (Peabody, Mass.). Amaral sent a ground pass to Dos Santos into the box to take a low shot past goalie David Crutchfield (Shrewsbury, Mass.).

Salem State finished with 18 shots with 12 were on target. Lesley struggled with their attack attempting just six shots with two on target. The Vikings led the game in corners with five and the Lynx had one.

Daniel Cortes (Lynn, Mass.) in his debut as a Viking finished with two saves and no goals allowed for the shutout. Crutchfield completed the game with eight saves and conceding two goals.
