Corsairs Post 2-0 Victory Over Vikings

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Goals by junior Yorik Sajbin (Fall River, Mass.) and senior midfielder Junior Monteiro (New Bedford, Mass.) lifted UMass Dartmouth to a 2-0 non-league college men's soccer victory over Salem State Wednesday evening at Cressy Field.

Sajbin gave the host Corsairs, who are off to their best start in three years at 4-1 overall, the only goal they would need after deflecting a pass from junior Dylan Danneker (Mansfield, Mass.) for his second tally of the season in the 34th minute.  Monteiro provided an insurance marker with his fourth goal of the year in the 61st minute after tapping in a defensive misplay in front of the net, and sophomore Jake Castro (Swansea, Mass.) made that stand up with a five save effort in goal to earn his fourth clean sheet of the fall.

Senior Christopher Jimenez (Nashua, N.H.) made a pair of saves in the setback for the visiting Vikings (3-3), who saw their three-match winning streak come to an end with the setback.  Salem State outshot UMass Dartmouth by a 13-8 margin overall (5-4 on goal) and held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks for the contest.
