Ramos Nets Hat-Trick in Salem State's 4-1 Win Over Anna Maria

SALEM, Mass. – Nicholas Ramos (Middleboro, Mass.) netted a hat-trick as Salem State stormed past Anna Maria 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. Ramos scored all three of his goals in the second half as Salem State improves to 3-2 on the season. The AMCATS slip to 2-4 on the year.

Anna Maria survived an early volley of shots from Salem State as keeper Jeffre Donahue (Rockland, Mass.) made successive saves to keep the Vikings at bay. Despite being outshot over the first 45 minutes 8-3, Anna Maria scored first when Ryan Todesco (Southwick, Mass.) headed home a pass from Hezekiah Adeyeye (Woonsocket, R.I.) off a corner for a 1-0 AMCATS' lead in the 22nd minute.

Later in the half, Sean Ward (Woburn, Mass.) found Ali Ewiess (Amherst, N.H) who slipped behind the defense with a deft touch pass, allowing Ewiess to convert a shot that was misplayed by Donahue into the net in the 44th minute.

Grace Dos Santos (Brockton, Mass.) setup the go-ahead goal for Salem State in the 53rd minute when he threaded a pass to Ramos in stride, who then ripped a shot from 15 yards out that tucked just inside the crossbar.

Ramos notched his second of the game when he found a loose ball just outside the goal area and easily converted an uncontested shot past Donahue for a 3-1 lead in the 70th minute. Later Ramos iced the game with his fifth score of the year eight minutes later as Salem State ran away with a 4-1 win.

Christopher Jimenez (Nashua, N.H.) made five saves to earn the victory while Donahue stopped seven shots in the loss for Anna Maria, which was outshot 19-9 for the game. Ewiess finished with a goal and assist for the Vikings.
