Salem State Scores 2-0 Victory Over MCLA

North Adams, Mass. -- Salem State scored a 2-0 MASCAC victory over the MCLA Trailblazers this evening at Shewcraft Field.  The Vikings improve to 11-2-2 overall and are now 4-1-1 in the conference.  MCLA falls to 0-13-1 on the season and is 0-6 in the MASCAC.

The game was scoreless for most of the first half until the visitors caught a break.  The Vikings finally broke through in the 40th minute when MCLA was whistled for a hand ball in the box.  The resulting penalty kick was taken by Lucas Amaral, who calmly deposited the ball into the lower right corner giving the Vikings a 1-0 edge heading into halftime. 

Salem State owned a 12-5 shot advantage in the opening half of play.

Damon Deocleciano scored with just under five minutes remaining to put the game out of reach.  The goal was his second of the season.

Salem State's Gus Savage earned his first win of the season in net to improve to 1-0-1.  He stopped three shots in the win.

Holvin Nieves suffered the loss and drops to 0-3 on the season.  He collected five saves on the night.
