Salem State Extends Shutout Streak to Three

SALEM, MASS. – Salem State secured their third straight shutout with a 3-0 victory over Becker on Wednesday evening at Alumni Field. Lucas Amaral (Peabody, Mass.) and Igor Caldas (Victoria, Brazil) each notched first period scores as goalie Christopher Jimenez (Nashua, N.H.) extended his scoreless streak to 360 minutes. Jimenez had a career best four-game shutout streak a season ago.

Amaral converted a pass from Gabriel Meireles (Everett, Mass.) just three minutes into the game while Caldas received a nice feed from Grace Dos Santos (Brockton, Mass.) and extended the lead to 2-0 in the 27th minute.

The Hawks had a chance to answer the Vikings first goal, but Siedon Nemeth (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands), who had gotten behind the defense, chipped his uncontested shot to the right of the net.

Ali Ewiess (Amherst, N.H.) added the only score in the second half as he added an unassisted tally in the 81st minute.

Jimenez finished with three saves for the Vikings while Marco DeLauri (Edgeware, U.K.) stopped six shots for Becker.

Salem State held a 13-6 advantage in shots and 10-5 margin in corners.
