SALEM, Mass. – Midfielder Gabriel Meireles (Everett, Mass.) was named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches All-New England Second Team on Tuesday. Meireles, the only freshman to be named to either the first or second team, led all freshman in scoring in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) this season, tallying 23 points (8g, 7a) while spearheading the Vikings' offense as one of the league's top passing midfielder's as his seven assists were third most in the conference this year.

SALEM, Mass. – Midfielder Gabriel Meireles (Everett, Mass.) was named the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and earned first-team status as four Salem State players earned all-conference honors as announced by the league on Wednesday. Joining Meireles on the first-team was Felipe Montiel (Maracaibo, Venezuela) while Igor Caldas (Vitoria, Brazil) and Lucas Amaral (Peabody, Mass.) earned second team honors. Meireles led all freshman in the conference with 23 points (8g, 7a) and was the focal point of the Vikings’ offense this season as one of the league’s top passing midfielder’s and his seven assists were third most in the MASCAC this year. Montiel was one of the MASCAC’s top defenders this season, starting in all 18 games for Salem State while adding three goals and an assist. Montiel spearheaded a unit that allowed just 14 goals in 19 games (12-3-4) for a league-best .070 goals against average.

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – #2 seed Bridgewater State University advanced to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men’s soccer championship game on penalty kicks after forging a 0-0 double overtime tie with third-seeded Salem State University in the semifinal round of the 2018 MASCAC Tournament on Friday afternoon at Swenson Field. Bridgewater won the penalty kick round by a margin of 4-1.

STANDISH, Maine – Salem State took #5 St. Joseph's to the wire, but midfielder Rory Twomey (South Windsor, Conn.) converted a penalty kick attempt with 2:15 remaining to lift the Monks (17-0, 11-0 GNAC) past the Vikings (11-3-2, 4-1-1 MASCAC), 1-0, in a non-conference men’s soccer contest on a rainy Tuesday night at the SJC Athletics Complex.

North Adams, Mass. -- Salem State scored a 2-0 MASCAC victory over the MCLA Trailblazers this evening at Shewcraft Field.  The Vikings improve to 11-2-2 overall and are now 4-1-1 in the conference.  MCLA falls to 0-13-1 on the season and is 0-6 in the MASCAC.

SALEM, Mass. – The Salem State Vikings hosted the Pine Manor Gators on "Senior Night" and the match resulted in a 2-2 draw. Seniors Gus Savage (Georgetown, Mass.), Luke Moylan (West Boylston), Matt Lynch (Salisbury, Mass.), and Nick Bettencourt (Peabody, Mass.) were all honored for their careers for the Vikings. All seniors started the game and displayed their leadership on the field.

Ethan Melia (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored a goal and added an assist to help the Lancers improve to 5-6-2 on the year and 3-1-1 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC). The Vikings are now 10-2-1 on the season and 3-1-1 in the conference.

Framingham, Mass. - Gabriel Meireles (Everett, Mass.) netted his third goal of the season, but a late score by Framingham State with five minutes remaining in regulation sent the game to overtime, which ended in a 1-1 tie. The Vikings remain atop the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) with a 2-0-1 record and are now 7-1-1 on the season. The Rams go to 6-3-2, and 1-0-2 (MASCAC).

Salem, Mass. – Salem State need extra time for the second consecutive game as Orlando Rodrigues (Burlington, Mass.) netted the game-winner for the Vikings in double overtime for a 2-1 MASCAC win over the Mass Maritime Buccaneers. Salem State received a corner in the 100th minute, which was taken by Lucas Amaral (Peabody, Mass.), who found Rodrigues for a header that reached above keeper Mitch Hardy’s (Pepperell, Mass.) hands.

SALEM, Mass. – Grace Dos Santos (Brockton, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal in extra time as the Vikings defeated UMASS Dartmouth 2-1. Lucas Amaral (Peabody, Mass.) found Dos Santos on a breakaway and the forward beat Danny Andrade (New Bedford, Mass.) from five yards out for the game-winner just over a minute in overtime.
