Eastern Connecticut Defeats Salem State
BANGOR, Maine -- Landon Mabb and Warren Channing each had four goals and two assists to lead Eastern Connecticut to a 13-5 Little East victory over Salem State on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors raise their record to 4-3 and 1-1 in the LEC. The Vikings are now 5-3 and 0-2.
Cameron Smith had two goals and an assist for Salem State while Grady Smith netted two scores. Tanner Drobish connected for three scores to go with two assists for Eastern Connecticut.
How it Happened
- Grady Smith put Salem State on top, 1-0 in the first. However, the Warrior responded with four goals in a row to end the period with two scores coming from Drobish.
- Eastern Connecticut continued to dominate play in the second quarter, scoring five unanswered goals to take a 9-1 lead. Channing had three goals in the second with his third score giving the Warriors a 9-1 halftime lead.
- Mabb opened the third with two consecutive goals before Warren Channing added a man-up goal to run the goal streak to 12. Cameron Smith broke the drought for the Vikings with a man-up score with just :01 remaining in the third, making the score 12-2.
- Salem State added three goals in the fourth while Mabb added his fourth of the game to cap the scoring.
- Gregory Hilinski made 10 saves in the win.
- Damian Biersteker stopped 10 shots in the loss for the Vikings playing three periods. Ryan Cohen made two saves in the final period.
