Vikings Celebrate "Senior Day" on Saturday

SALEM, Mass. -- Donovan Prozinski (Ashland, Mass.) scored four goals and added six assists as UMass Dartmouth sailed past Salem State 18-4 on "Senior Day" at Alumni Field. The Corsairs improve to 6-8 and even their record to 3-3 in the Little East. The Vikings are now 3-10 and 1-6 in conference.

Salem State celebrated "Senior Day" in a ceremony preceding the game. Craig Gordon (Salem, Mass.), Cullen Curnow (Duluth, Minn.), Chris Schaub (Brewster, N.Y.) and Dan McLaughlin (Boston, Mass.) were all recognized for their commitment to the men's lacrosse program.

Prozinski, Tim Jordan (Sandwich, Mass.) – 3 goals, Mike Rizzo (Bridgewater, Mass.) – 3 goals, l, Griffin Wiencek (Sherwood, Ore.) – 2 goals, Kevin Swenson (Ipswich, Mass.) – 2 goals, Josh Souza (Sandwich, Mass.) – 1 goal, Sawyer Gibbons (Sandwich, Mass.) – 1 goal, Alexi Fauzey (Charlestwon, R.I.) – 1 goal and  Bryce Cote (Westport, Mass.) – 1 goal all scored for UMass Dartmouth.

Dan McLaughlin (Boston, Mass.) – 2 goals, Tyler Morris (Billerica, Mass.) – 1 goal, Jay Colletti (Billerica, Mass.) 1- goal, netted goals for Salem State.

UMass Dartmouth opened up a 3-0 lead as Prozinski notched the first of his three opening half goals less than a minute and a half into the game. Following back-to-back scores from Fauzey and Gibbons, McLaughlin netted a goal for Salem State to cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Corsairs quickly built the lead to 6-1 with three unanswered goals to start the second. A Colletti score at the 7:26 mark ended the UMass scoring string, but Prozinsk and Jordan netted two goals apiece in the final 3:09 of the period giving UMass Dartmouth a 10-2 advantage heading into halftime.

UMass Dartmouth outshot the Vikings 22-9 at the half, converting 10 of their 18 shots on goal (.55.5%) into points.

Prozinski added his fourth of the game just over a minute into the third before Morris and McLaughlin answered for the Vikings. However a pair of goals from Rizzo and a score from Cote gave the Corsairs a 14-4 advantage at the end of three.

UMass Dartmouth added four more scores in the fourth, with two coming from the stick of Wiencek.

Ted McCaffery (Pepperell, Mass.) earned the win in net making six saves in one half of work. Sam Kozimor (Wrentham, Mass.) made two second half stops in goal.

Jack Ganter (Lynnfield, Mass.) took the loss, making eight saves in 30 minutes of action.
Zach Isham (Chicopee, Mass.) and Stephen Balcher (Townsend, Mass.) split time in goal in the second half, combining for eight goals allowed and five saves.

The Corsairs held a 41-20 margin in shots and a won 14-25 face offs.
