Camels Skate to 4-1 Win Over Salem State

SALEM, Mass. -- Rory Garlasco's (Wayne, N.J.) goal and assist helped the Connecticut Camels defeat the Salem State Vikings 4-1 at Richard H. Rockett Arena on Tuesday evening. The Camels improve to 2-4-1 on the season while the Vikings slip to 3-6-1.

In the first period, Colin Stevens (Concord, N.H.) took a rebound directly in front of the net and uncontested, rifled in a shot past goalie Sean Cleary (Barnstable, Mass.) to put the Camels on top 1-0. Later in the period, Connecticut College applied heavy pressure on Cleary and with the goalie caught out of position, Ryan Petti (Tewskbury, Mass.) was able to sneak the puck behind Cleary for a 2-0 lead.

In the second period, Bill McGwin (Rochester, N.Y.) put the Vikings on the board with his second goal of the season. Matt Yianacopolous (Wakefield, Mass.) took a shot and after it deflected off the Camel's goalie Avery Gobbo (Mississauga, Ont.), the puck went directly to McGwin in the middle to cut the deficit to 2-1.

In the third period, Connecticut College had a two on one opportunity. Jacob Moreau (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec) was on the right side of the ice and passed it to Garlasco in the center for a 3-1 advantage.

The Vikings removed their goalie with 45 seconds left in the third period and Matt Creamer (Warwick, R.I.) took advantage with a shot from mid-ice to add to the lead.

Gobbo saved 23 shots for the Camels while Cleary stopped 37 shots for the Vikings.
