Vikings Finish Third at 2019 MASCAC Championships, Aaron Paskowski Named Rookie of the Year

West Boyleston, Mass. -  Salem State captured third palce at the 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Golf Championship on Sunday at Wachusett Country Club. The Vikings' Max Emmerich (Swampscott, Mass.) took sixth place overall, finishing with a 154 (74-80, +10), after shooting the third lowest round (74) on Saturday.

Salem State's Aaron Paskowski (Danvers, Mass.) came in the seventh, with a two day 155 (76-79, +11) to earn MASCAC Rookie of the Year honors.

Springfield took home the championship with a two-day score of 616, winning by six strokes. Westfield State finished second with a 622 with Salem State posting a team-score of 631.  

Mike Strong of Springfield earned medalist honors, finished with a two-day score of 152, and winning a three-way playoff on Sunday with a pair of pars.

Ian Paskowski (Danvers, Mass.) earned a top-10 finish for Salem State, with a 157 (76-81, +13). Christian McKenna (Danvers, Mass.) - 84-82, 166 and Matt Godbout (Rowley, Mass.) - 83-85, 168 rounded out the field for the Vikings, finishing 22 and t-24 respectively. 

Springfield's Joe Eadie was named the MASCAC Coach of the Year. Emmerich, Aaron Paskowski and Ian Paskowski earned ALL-MASCAC Second Team honors

The MASCAC Tournament included nine schools this season, as the league expanded to include schools from the NECC, and was played as a two day format for the first time at the hilly, 1927 Donald Ross designed course, which plays as a 6,567 yard, par 72 layout from the men's championship tees.
