Vikings Finish 9th at Duke Nelson Tournament

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Salem State started the 2018 season with a solid showing at the 35th annual Duke Nelson Tournament hosted by Middlebury College. The Vikings, who were paced by Justin Serowik, finished ninth among the 22-team field. Williams College won the event with a 584 team-score, four strokes ahead of runner-up Trinity College. Salem State finished the two-event with a team-score of 607.

Sam Goldenring of Williams took home medalist honors with a (139, 69-70).

Serowik tied for 26th with a (150, 74-76) a respectable showing as Salem State fielded a young team, with many making their first tournament start. Eric Powers (t-32, 151, 79-72) and Christian McKenna (t-37, 152, 74-78) both placed in the top-30. Reed Bourgeois (t-52, 154, 75-79) and Matt Godbout (186, 94-92) rounded out the field for Salem State. New head coach Kevin Daly was pleased with the effort and competitiveness of his team.
