Bio

Caira is entering his seventh year (sixth season) as a member of the Vikings coaching staff, and sixth as the Associate Head Coach. Since joining the staff, Caira has helped lead the Vikings to three regular season MASCAC titles (2016, 2018, 2019), and two MASCAC tournament championships in 2017 and 2019 which resulted in trips to the NCAA tournament. The Vikings record in that time is 79-57 overall and 44-16 in MASCAC play. Caira has assisted in all aspects of the program and has been instrumental in the recruitment of several current Vikings including Jaden Castillo, Chris MacDonald, and former MASCAC Player of the Year Sean Bryan. He also serves as the Director of Chris Harvey Basketball School, the program’s summer basketball camp for school-aged boys. 

Caira has worked dozens of other camps in the New England area as a director, counselor, and guest lecturer including Boston Celtics Basketball Camps, Kevin Ollie Basketball Camp at the University of Connecticut, Rising Star Basketball School in Melrose, MA and Waltham, MA, Merrimack College Basketball Camp, Stoneham Spartan Basketball School, All Net Basketball Camp in Burlington, MA, and the Wildcat Basketball Clinic in Wilmington, MA. 

Caira joined the Vikings’ coaching staff in 2015 after two successful seasons at Stoneham High School as the Boys’ Head Basketball Coach.  Caira, in just his first year as head coach of the Spartans, was able to lead his team to the Massachusetts Division 3 North Final, the school’s first appearance in that game in 42 seasons. Prior to taking over the Spartans’ program in 2013, Caira spent two years as an assistant coach at Malden Catholic High School and another two seasons as an assistant at Wilmington High School. 

After a standout career at Wilmington High School, Caira earned a spot as a walk-on at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA where he graduated in 2010 with a B.A in English and Elementary Education. He earned his Master’s Degree in Middle School Education from American International College in 2019. A lifelong Wilmington, MA native, Caira is an Assistant Principal at Wilmington Middle School. He currently resides in Wilmington with his wife Amanda.
