Bryan Scores His 1000th Career Point in Vikings 103-77 Victory Over MCLA

SALEM, Mass - Sean Bryan (Lowell, Mass.) scored a game-high 22 points and in the process, netted his 1,000th career point as Salem State defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 103-77 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action on Tuesday night. Bryan added eight rebounds and dished out seven assists while becoming the 30th Vikings' player to reach the 1,000 point mark. Salem State rises to 11-8 on the season and 5-1 in the MASCAC while the Trailblazers slip to 4-13 on the year and 0-5 in the conference.

The Vikings opened the game on an 11-4 run highlighted by seven points from Bryan. A Shamar Logins (Newark, N.Y) three cut the deficit to 31-21, but Salem State, which shot 54.3% (19-35) from the field, built a 51-29 halftime lead. MCLA struggled from the floor, connecting on just 33.3% (13-39) of their attempts. Salem State was aggressive by attacking the rim, as they went to the line 13 times making nine compared to just two free throw attempts and one make by the Trailblazers.  

Leading 74-43, Bryan connected on a driving layup for his 1,000th point with 12:58 remaining, before Salem State built their largest lead of 38-points, 81-43 at the 11:57 mark.

For the Vikings, Hakeem Animashaun (Dedham, Mass.) had a double-double of 21 points, going 7-10 (70%) from the field while corralling a game-high 18 boards for his 13th double-double of the season. Temitope Bailey (West Springfield, Mass) was perfect from the field scoring 16 points on 7-for-7 shooting.

For the Trailblazers, Logins finished with 14 points while Mike Demartinis (Burlington, Mass.) added 11.

Salem State shot 46.8% (FG 37-79) from the floor for the game while MCLA connected on 32-80 (40%) attempts.
