Williams Earns 91-79 Win Over Salem State

Williamstown, MA – Salem State lost 91-79 to the Williams College Ephs in the opening game of the Williams College Tip-off Tournament on Saturday. Sean Bryan led both teams in scoring with 30 points while also contributing with seven rebounds and five assists.
 
The Vikings led 40-38 at halftime, despite 12 points from Bobby Casey, who went 4-4 from behind the arc. Bryan led the Vikings in points with 17 as Salem State shot 46.9% from the field and 38.5% from behind the arc. Hakeem Animashaun added 11 points for the Vikings, who went 15-33 (45.5%) from the field.
 
A 19-5 run by the Ephs midway through the half helped Williams build an 18-lead with 9:30 remaining. Two free throws by Bryan cut the deficit to 10 points, 89-79 with 2:26 remaining, but that is as close as the Vikings would get as the Ephs settled for a 12-point victory.
 
Animashaun ended the game with 15 points and four rebounds while Matt McCune added nine points off the bench for Salem State. Kyle Scadlock led the Ephs in scoring with 26 points, James Heskett would lead the Ephs in assists. Bobby Casey finished the game with a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. 
 
The Vikings shot 28-69 (40.6%) from the field while the Ephs went 29-58 (50.0%) from the floor.
