Salve Regina Earns 6-3 Decision Over Vikings

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Jillian Danton (Arlington, Mass.) scored two goals, but Salve Regina's Ashley Cody (Pawling, N.Y.) scored four times to help the Seahawks to a 6-3 win over visiting Salem State University in non-conference action Monday evening. Salve improves to 4-7 on the year while the Vikings remain winless at 0-9.

The Vikings drew within one score after Danton's second of the night made it 3-2 late in the first. Ashley Cody answered shortly with her second of the night, then scored again to open the second half reestablishing a three goal differential for the Seahawks. Salve Regina freshman Eliza Timms (Agawam, Mass.) scored twice to round out the Seahawks scoring and had an assist. Erin Davies (Arlington, Mass.) scored the third goal of the night for the Viking

Salem State freshman Kelli McCarthy (Foxborough, Mass.) made a game-high 14 saves in just one half of action to fall to 0-6 in net for the Vikings. Freshman Kaitlyn O'Shea (Ledgewood, N.J.) made 12 saves and allowed two goals in the second half. Seahawks keeper Ally Daly (Peabody, Mass.) made four saves to improve to 4-7 between the pipes.

Salve Regina outshot the Vikings 42-9 and 32-8 in shots on goal.
