STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (9-1, 3-0 GNAC) cruised past Salem State University (0-7, 0-4 LEC), 9-0, in a non-conference field hockey contest at the SJC Athletics Complex on Monday night. Junior Libby Pomerleau (Limerick, Maine) tallied three goals and two assists and freshman Emma Rutledge (Alfred, Maine) scored twice to help the Monks topple the Vikings.

Saint Joseph's broke the game open with four goals in a matter of nine minutes, as Rutledge hit pay dirt twice and Pomerleau and senior Samantha Silva (Laconia, N.H.) both scored to make it a 4-0 game with just over 16 minutes left in the first half.

The Monks continued to apply pressure in the second frame, as senior Kayla Veilleux (Sabattus, Maine) and Pomerleau struck in the first four minutes of the latter stanza to make it a 6-0 contest.

Sophomore Alexandra Belaire (Greene, Maine) and Pomerleau scored two minutes apart, in the 47th and 49th minutes, respectively, and sophomore Bailey Wood (Waterford, Maine) scored her first career goal at the 51:25 mark to cap the game scoring.

Saint Joseph's netminders Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine), Izzy Anton (Mount Vernon, N.H.), and Alexandria Simpson (Pascoag, R.I.) all saw time, without facing a shot, in the victory. Salem State split time in goal, as freshman Kaitlyn O'Shea (Ledgewood, N.J.) and first-year Kelli McCarthy (Foxborough, Mass.) made 11 saves apiece.
