Briana Named To ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region Second Team

SALEM, MASS. – Junior Traverse Briana (Lynn, Mass.) earned ABCA/Rawlings All-New England and New England Intercollegiate Baseball (NEIBA) Second Team honors as both entities released their Division III All-New England Teams on Tuesday, May 28.

Briana, who was named to the All-MASCAC First Team and D3baseball.com Second Team previously led the nation with a .school record .528 batting average while setting a new school mark with a .578 on base percentage. He topped the MASCAC in slugging percentage (.731) and placed in the top-five in the league in home runs (4), doubles (10), hits (57) and total bases (79). He also committed just one error in 214 total chances for an impressive .995 fielding percentage.

The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.

The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Over 9,600 members represent all 50 states and 25 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.
