Brock Riley (Lowell, Mass.) has signed with the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League, becoming the second Viking to play in the illustrious Cape League in the past five years. Riley, who was playing for the North Shore Navigators of The Futures Collegiate Baseball League, had an impressive 16 strikeouts in 17.1 innings with a 3.63 ERA and 1-1 record in nine games with North Shore.
Riley, who tied for second in wins in the MASCAC with a 7-2 record in his first season at Salem State also tied for the league lead in saves with four. The junior had 56 strikeouts in 51.2 innings with a 3.66 ERA. Riley joins former Salem State standout Richard Fecteau '16, who was signed by the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in 2013 as the only two MASCAC players to play in the Cape League in the past five years.
The Cape Cod League is considered the premier collegiate summer baseball league in the country, as it has been the summer league for many of the top collegiate players in the country. The ten-team league embarked this June for its 133rd season, featuring a 44-game regular-season.
