Another Day, Another OT Victory for the Lancers as they Sink Salem to Remain Perfect in the MASCAC

Worcester, MA- Coming off a thrilling overtime win 3 days ago, the Worcester State Lancers traveled to Salem State on Saturday morning for a conference matchup and a chance to keep their unbeaten MASCAC streak alive.

The Lancers were off to a hot start as they created a handful of opportunities and would eventually capitalize in the second period of play with a goal from senior Grace Adams (Leominster,Mass) to open the scoring for Worcester State but Salem State quickly equalized with a goal from Melanie Mason (Beverly,Mass) to take the game to halftime deadlocked at one goal a piece.

Both teams came out of the break fighting hard and the game remained tied until Adams scored her second of the day, but it was quickly canceled out by Mason's second goal of the day approximately three minutes later to tie the game at 2. The two teams continued to battle it out in search of a game winner in regulation but each team was unable to produce the needed goal in the 60 minutes of action.

In overtime, both senior Sam Gastonguay (Ashburnham,Mass) and Izzy Mosley (Middleborough,Mass) made a few astounding saves to keep their teams in the contest and the 7v7 matchup going. About halfway through overtime, after a bit of chaos on both ends of the field, the Lancers secured a road victory with a goal from junior Natalya Morin (Barre,Mass), assisted by sophomore Charlotte MacGregor (Bellingham,Mass).

With this win the Lancers improve to (7-5, 5-0) and will travel to Westfield for a 7pm start on October 11th in a rematch of an earlier in the season contest that saw the Lancers grab the victory 4-0.
