Bio

Carey was named Head Athletic Trainer at Salem State University in 2008. Prior to that, she was an assistant athletic trainer at the college for eleven years. Carey is also a clinical preceptor in the college’s CAATE ATEP program. Ms. MacDonald was a 1989 graduate of Salem State University where she was a member of the Women’s Soccer team and was inducted into the College’s Hall of Fame in 2004. She studied athletic training under the guidance of long time athletic trainer Bill Bulloch. Prior to her employment at SSU, she worked for five years as an assistant athletic trainer and physical education instructor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. Carey is originally from Winchester, MA.

In addition to playing on the first SSU team chosen for the NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament, Carey was also honored as the college's top female student athlete her senior year.

Carey was inducted into the Salem State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.

She also received a 25-year service award from the National Athletic Trainers' Association in 2011.
