Michael Persson, a native to Ostersund, Sweden, was the College Soccer Program’s first male athlete to be selected Academic All-American. He earned this honor twice in his career at College. Michael, who fulfilled his Swedish military requirement prior to enrolling at Salem State College, is a four-time All-New England and All-MASCAC selection. Michael was a team captain when SSC advance to the NCAA Final Four in 1987 and 1988. He was a member of three MASCAC title teams and four NCAA tournament squads.
