Bio

Mark Rowell was the “father of the current varsity men’s lacrosse program” at Salem State. A lacrosse pioneer, Rowell was responsible for putting together the first club team in the early 1990’s, and his tireless work was invaluable to the team earning varsity status in 1997. A leader off the field as well as on, Rowell was instrumental in hiring the first lacrosse coach at Salem State while captaining the team from 1993-1997. Rowell was also an accomplished player, as he consistently placed in the top three in goals and overall scoring each year. His dedication and commitment to bringing men’s lacrosse to Salem State is the primary reason the Vikings are a successful varsity program today.
