Bio

Twohig played varsity basketball for three years and was captain of the team in his senior year. Competing with fellow Hall of Famers, and Lynnnatives, Al Levy and Herb Brenner, Twohig, in his student days, helped to establish the College’s basketball program. Twohig returned to his alma mater in 1955 to become head coach. In his twelve seasons at the helm, he compiled a remarkable record. His teams, while winning seventy-five percent of their games, won several conference titles and led their division nearly every year. They also were victorious at many invitational tournaments.

After graduation, Twohig taught and coached in Vermont and Billerica before returning to Lynn to teach and coach at Classical High School until 1953, at which time he became associated with the New England Mutual Life Insurance Company. In his entire twenty-six year coaching career (twelve years at Salem and fourteen years at the high school level), he never had a losing season.

Twohig and his wife, Francis, live in South Yarmouth during the summer and in Hollywood, Florida the rest of the year. He is the father of three children, Kathleen, Kevin and Mark.
