Fabian Mejia-Villa ’06 – Men’s Cross Country and Track & Field (2002-2006)

Mejia-Villa a four-year member, and four-time captain on the cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field teams at Salem State, captured the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) cross country championship three straight years (2003-05). In 2005 Mejia became the first Salem State cross country runner to win the ECAC New England Division III championship. A four-time All-MASCAC All-Academic team selection, he garnered All-New England honors in indoor track by capturing the ECAC mile crown and 1,000 meter title. He earned a total of 12 letters while competing in three different sports, and was the MASCAC 800 meter champion, and a member of the MASCAC 4 X 400 meter relay team in outdoor track and field. He earned the prestigious Howard C. Smith Scholar Athlete Award for the 2005-2006 academic year, awarded to the top male student-athlete from the MASCAC, and received the 2005-2006 President's Cup Award as Salem State’s top male athlete.
