Etson was a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All- District 32 South all-star basketball selection as a forward his junior year. He was one of the nation’s top re-bounders, a force at both ends of the court, during the 1973-74 season. He helped lead the Vikings to a 16-5 record which included advancing to the NAIA District 32 South playoffs.

As a junior, the 6’5, 190 pound Cameron averaged 15.7 points and 11 rebounds for the Vikings. On February 12, 1974, he exploded for 33 points and 21 rebounds in SSC’s 77-76 victory over Western New England College.
