Downie, a two-year player, was twice named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Player of the Year. He earned All-American honors his senior year after leading the Vikings to a 24-3 record, including an undefeated 14-0 mark in conference, a MASCAC championship, and to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. A prolific scorer, he was named to the First Team NCAA Division III All-New England, All-Northeast and All-ECAC teams. He led the MASCAC in scoring and finished second in rebounding in 2007, and finished his career with over 1,000 points, averaging 20.6 points per game – second all-time at the Salem State.
